Day 1 - Alice Springs to Kings Canyon
Your 3 Day Uluru Tour from Alice Springs sets off bright and early we leave Alice Springs and head directly to Watarrka National Park (Kings Canyon), soaking up the vast and majestic landscape of remote outback Australia along the way. After a delicious lunch on the sacred lands of the Ulpanyali and Lila people, we arrive at Kings Canyon.
One of the most scenic parts of the Red Centre with breathtaking views surrounded by ancient red canyon walls soaring 100 metres high, lush forests, chasms and pristine waterholes. We spend the afternoon exploring Kings Canyon on foot, immersing ourselves in the rich, vibrant landscape, trekking through some of the most magnificent hiking trails in the country, learning about some of the unique flora, fauna and geology along the way.
We then head back to the Safari Camp at our Kings Canyon Accommodation to relax and unwind after a long day of adventure and cool off with a dip in the pool. Enjoy a delicious meal around the campfire with some of your fellow passengers and have your mind blown by an outback stargazing extravaganza.
Day 2 - Kings Canyon to Uluru
On our way to Ayers Rock Resort we stop in at Curtin Springs and Mt Connor (another large inselberg also known as false Uluru) to appreciate the lookout over this enormous tabletop mountain before arriving at our campground for a delicious picnic lunch.
After lunch we immerse ourselves in everything Uluru, diving deep into the cultural, historical, ecological and geological significance of this UNESCO World Heritage-listed site at the Red Centres indigenous interpretive cultural centre. We then drive out to the base of this iconic natural wonder to experience and explore one of the world’s largest monoliths up close.
As we make our way to Mutitjulu waterhole, an ancient oasis surrounded by an abundance of diverse native flora and fauna, we discover multiple family caves and sacred rock art sites. As we continue our hike towards the northeast corner of the rock, we unravel the creation stories of ancestral beings Kuniya (the woma-python) and Liru (the venomous snake).
We then drive over to Kantju Gorge, envisaging one of the highest waterfalls in Central Australia and encounter an elders cave as well as the ancient kitchen caves of the Mala people.
After a full day of adventure and exploration on your 3 day Uluru tour from Alice Springs, we pull back to experience a panoramic view of one of the most striking sunset’s on the planet and witness in awe as the sandstone transforms into an intense burnt orange and brilliant crimson red colour right before our eyes.
