Grampians One Day Tour Itinerary
Why Visit Grampians?
In one day we take you from Melbourne to experience the highlights of this breathtaking Grampians National Park.
You will feel as though you have stepped back in time as you marvel at the Ancient Landscape with rugged mountain ranges and spectacular sandstone ridges. With an experienced guide leading you through this incredible scenery, you will come away from the tour with a new understanding of the countryside and history of the region.
Morning Tea in Country Victoria
As you leave the city behind you, we travel 250 km west, through countryside steeped in Victorian Goldrush history. This journey ends with a stop in one of the many quaint towns en route to learn about mining history and enjoy a morning tea/coffee.
Brambuk Aboriginal Cultural Centre
Once we have arrived in the picturesque Grampians National Park, we head to Brambuk Aboriginal Cultural Centre, where you can explore and see first-hand the creation stories that make up the lore of this diverse landscape. Venture around the cultural centre to spot wallabies, emus, and maybe echidnas in the bush. Come away with a deeper understanding of the significance of Gariwerd for the Indigenous people.
Reeds Lookout & The Balconies
Reeds Lookout affords sweeping views down to Lake Wartook and out over the Victoria Valley and Mount Difficult Range.
We then enjoy a hike along the shady path through the gum trees and fascinating rock formations out to The Balconies. Here you will see the famous ‘Jaws of Death’ with majestic views and scenery featured in the Japanese Animation ‘Princess Mononoke’.
Hike to the base of Mackenzie Falls
Probably the most famous waterfall in Victoria valley, we hike down to the base and back to marvel at the sheer amount of water and feel the fresh air spray.
The hike is about 250 steps to the base and back, and if you prefer an easier flat walk out over the top of the falls, this is absolutely fine!
If ever Mackenzie Falls were closed to the public, this stop would be substituted for a peaceful hike to Silverband Falls.
Boroka Lookout
A picture stop at the marvellous Boroka lookout perfectly depicts the incredible scenery. Depending on the weather and visibility, we may alternatively head to Lake Bellfield to walk out along the damn and feel dwarfed in between the two mountain ranges.
Kangaroo and Wildlife Spotting
Fun fact – no one in town of Halls Gap needs to own a lawn mower because come evening, there are kangaroos everywhere, out nibbling on the grass!
While it is very likely that you will spot a range of Aussie birds, including kookaburras and emus, we are certain that you will not leave the Grampians without seeing a kangaroo.
We often are also treated to the sights of echidnas and wallabies. Remember, there would not be any feeding of wild animals, but make sure your camera battery is charged!
Return to Melbourne
Eventually, we must head back to the city. The 3-hour journey from the Grampians is broken up with a stop along the way to purchase dinner (at your own expense).
Relax and reflect on a day of discovery. You will be in Melbourne by about 8.30 pm with drop-off back to your original pick-up location or public transport links.

- Three day Melbourne to Adelaide Great Ocean Road I enjoyed this tour very much. The tour took in a LOT of sights in just three days, and went to the Grampians as well as the Great Ocean Road. Our driver-guide was Tom and he entertained the group not just with knowledgeable stories but also entertaining and highly apt song choices along the way. Good times.Mat1lda3/19/2013

I spent a lovely day in the Grampians , with Wildlife Melbourne tours
First, the company is excellent and our guide was really interesting and helpful.
Secondly, the nature, the mountains ranges, panoramic views, waterfalls, was absolutely amazing
Thridly, we saw kangaroos and wallabies on our way and they were so cute 🙂
Finally, I 100% recommand this tour if you’re coming in Melbourne!
My wife and I recently joined this tour and had a fabulous time. This tour is fantastic value, we were going to rent a car however it’s quite a journey from Melbourne and were not sure which sights were best to visit in one day. Our guide Simon was brilliant and the itinerary perfect. Highly recommend
Hi my name is Ming. Let me tell you about this amazing tour I joined from Melbourne. Driver was very friendly. So many wild Australian animals to see. incredible mountain & waterfalls. I recommend this tour company.
My husband, 7 year old daughter, and I all went on this tour. It was excellent and we were very pleased with our tour guide Rob. Rob gave us a lot of interesting pertinent information about various spots along the way to the Grampians. Once we arrived, we had plenty of time to see and do some highlights from this beautiful national park. I was especially pleased with how accommodating the tour company and our tour guide were to our young daughter. They went out of their way to make sure that she was able to participate in all the tour’s activities and attractions.
The Grampians itself is a really lovely cheap Grampians tour day from Melbourne. We were able to see a diversity of natural features and wildlife including beautiful waterfalls, scenic vistas, and kangaroos. It is a nice way to see more of Australia’s beautiful countryside if you happen to be visiting Melbourne. Would definitely recommend!
If you want to see the Grampians National Park in all it’s glory then jumping on one of these tours is the way to go! Without the hassle of driving yourself there and back, the Grampians day trip guides do all the hard work for you – even providing morning tea and lunch! The day is filled with short walks leading to amazing views of the surrounding scenery. Native flora and fauna galore along with the odd kangaroo or emu! MacKenzie Falls being the highlight for me! Thanks to the crew Dave C and Dwayne for providing lots of interesting knowledge on the history of the area – and for an awesome day out! Go Grampians 1 day tour Wildlife!
Cheers, Kelly, HHQ.
Went on the Grampians tour from Melbourne bus last week . I enjoyed the beautiful views and waterfalls. What a great place to visit!
I had so much fun with my partner on this 1 day grampians tour. The kangaroos and views were amazing. Thanks for making our day
