The 200 hectare property is home to some of Africa’s most iconic animals, as well as other majestic wildlife from the grasslands of Asia, North America and Australia. All of this makes for an exciting day out. After being picked up by your friendly tour guide for the day, we head west over the Westgate Bridge enjoying panoramic views as we leave the city behind.
Arrive at Werribee Open Range Zoo - Safari Bus Tour - Jump on board the unique safari bus and sit back and delight in the wonders of wildlife – the most thrilling safari adventure you’ll have this side of Africa! Once on board you will get an up close view of the animals living together in 500 acres of open savannah area, including rhinoceros, giraffe, zebra and antelope – just to name a few! The tour includes live commentary from a Safari Guide as you are transported safely through arid landscapes and savannah grasslands to explore the open range exhibits and learn about some of the world’s most endangered species. The 40 minute Safari Tour is one of the Zoo’s most popular experiences and one you will remember for a lifetime.
Start to explore the Pula Walking Trail -Follow the Pula walking trail to see the gorillas, monkeys and lions.
*Lion Keeper Presentation - Visiting the lions at Werribee Open Range Zoo offers a unique and exciting chance to see these impressive animals up close in safety. The informative presentation highlights why the lion is regarded as the ‘king of the savannah’. Learn about what dangers threaten these extraordinary creatures in the wild. After the presentation continue on the Pula Walking Trail to see more African animals - meerkats, African wild dogs, hippos, servals, and cheetahs.

Depart Werribee Open Range Zoo for Shadowfax Winery – sit back and relax in the novel surroundings of Shadofax Winery and enjoy a mouth-watering lunch showcasing the freshest and best seasonal produce. After your lunch delight in tasting Shadowfax's magnificent range of new release wines, absorb the winery's distinctive hospitality and character as you ponder what wines you may wish to take home.
Visit the Victoria State Rose Garden – Be dazzled with beauty - With over 5000 roses spread across 5 hectares you will appreciate why the glorious Victoria State Rose Gardens were awarded the International Garden of Excellence by the World Federation of Rose Societies in 2003. Victoria State Rose Garden was the first rose garden outside of Europe to obtain this Award and is presently taken care of entirely by enthusiastic volunteers.
OR explore Werribee Park Mansion: Take a step back in time and discover the Victorian era in Australia with a fascinating visit to Werribee Park Mansion. This classic-style Italianate stately building with its 60 rooms, porticoed wings and sky-high tower was made to display wealth and impress society! Traditionally the estate also had a working farm. Nowadays, the Werribee Park Mansion is a testament to the pomp and ceremony of the 19th century and a must see attraction. The restorations have been extensive and add an extra touch of authenticity in allowing you to ‘step back in time’ as you explore the intriguing lifestyle of the Chirnside family and their servants. Many of the family possessions are still on display. You can also wander through 10 hectares of the exquisite formal gardens and open space park land surrounding the estate.
