Based in the heart of the Yarra Valley, Punt Road Wines is known for its great wines and estate grown vineyards across 58 acres of vineyard. A family owned vineyard with 3rd generation fruit growers, we make site driven, exciting wines that reflect the cool climate region. Led by winemaker Tim Shand, Punt Road is a true gem of the Yarra Valley.

From Swiss Immigrants to Modern Pioneers

The history of Punt Road Wines is deeply rooted in the Yarra Valley’s winemaking history. It all started when the first settlers, including Swiss immigrants, planted the first vines in the region. The vine cuttings brought to the Yarra Valley were the beginnings of what would become a large vineyard. These pioneers saw the land, and today, Punt Road continues its legacy as a grape grower.

The estate’s old vines, some planted as far back as 1984, are still going strong and producing some of the winery’s flagship wines. The legacy of the pioneering grape growers lives on through the Napoleone family, 3rd generation fruit growers, who continue the tradition of making great wines with care and expertise. They look after the land and Punt Road remains a part of the Yarra Valley’s grape growing history.

Yarra Valley Terroir

The Yarra Valley is known for its cool climate, and Punt Road’s vineyards have rich soils and gentle slopes, which contribute to the acidity and flavour of the wines. The winemaking team at Punt Road make the most of these natural conditions to produce premium wines.

Vineyards and Varieties

Punt Road’s estate grown vineyards have a wide range of varieties including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Napoleone Vineyard is known for producing small batch wines with black fruits, citrus fruits and more. Jarrod Johnson, vineyard manager, works closely with Tim to ensure the path of fruit from vine to bottle is managed to perfection, to produce great wines with character.

The day cellar door experience allows guests to taste a wide range of wines with knowledgeable staff who will tell you all about the winemaking process. Whether you’re a seasoned wine drinker or new to the world of wine, our cellar door team will make your tasting experience special.

Guests can enjoy a glass of wine or a bottle in the beautiful surroundings of the estate or take a stroll through the garden with wine in hand. The Marquee Bar is a great spot to relax and enjoy a picnic lunch from the Picnic Pantry, featuring local Yarra Valley produce that matches perfectly with Punt Road wines.

If you can’t get to the winery Punt Road offers day delivery through their delivery drivers so your wine will arrive on time. Customers can choose from a range of delivery options including standard delivery and delivery is minimal. If you’re in a hurry you can also pick up your order from the nearest collection point. Punt Road’s service extends beyond the cellar door with great customer service so every order is handled with care.
