History and Founding

Founded in 1985 by James Halliday AM, one of Australia’s leading wine writers, Coldstream Hills was born from a vision to make world class wines. Initially single vineyard wines, Halliday’s passion for the craft soon saw a range of varietals, White and Red, all Yarra Valley. His wife, Suzanne Halliday, was also involved in the development of the winery and was the driving force behind its success.
