Festival History

The history of Phillip Island Jazz Festival Inc. started with a small gathering and has grown into an annual event on our calendar. From the very first year to now, it has grown from a local musician’s gig to one that features local and international artists. In that time, 61 musicians have played for thousands of jazz lovers and helped them fall in love with the music and life on Phillip Island. The history also includes other events such as Churchill Island Family Fun Festival and a combined program on all things whale-related called The Island Whale Festival, so all the cultural festivals are wrapped up in one.

Festival Highlights

Among other things, there will be live performances, workshops, special events, and more over the three days of the festival. Non-stop brass bands and live sets by original instrumentalists are just a few of the things you can expect from the event. Lecturers in music will also be playing interactive sessions.
