It was a two-day Sydney tours, well, in fact an excursion to some big-ticket scenic attractions with the New South Wales capital as our gateway. It was a Port Stephens-Hunter Valley-Blue Mountains tour package that let us explore the many quaint places and learn more about Australian culture and hospitality.
During the trip we get to have the chance to stop for dinner and some beers at the famous resort-hotel-brasserie-brewery the locals called the Potters in Nulkaba, Hunter Valley. The stop has been a great opportunity for us to enjoy the food and the brew at this first microbrewery in the region known for its wines.
The Potters Hotel Brewery Resort perched amongst the 120 cellar doors across the Hunter Valley, Australia’s oldest wine region. It only took us around two hours of drive from the hustle and bustle of the busy Sydney metropolis.
Sitting next to the hotel and the brasserie within the Potters Hotel Brewery Resort, The Hunter Beer Co. is the only brewery on the site, and one of the best stops of our Hunter Valley tours. They brews range of boutique ales and award-winning beers you can enjoy overlooking the historic Brick Beehive Kilns of Nulkaba.
The brewery has garnered several local and international awards for their range of beers from the traditional pilsener to the heavy bock, from the lighter kolsch to seasonal stouts, and from witbier to pale ales.
Operating daily, the brewhouse has produced a range of signature ales including the Hunter Kolsch, Hunter Witbier, Chocolate Porter, and Christmas Cheer.
There’s also the Old Brickworks Brasserie where you can dine in with friends. They offer great modern Aussie cuisine and a variety of beer-inspired creations. The beers, handcrafted to perfection, are a great match to the food on the menu and the nice views of the place.
It was a great time having fun and a bubbly conversation over a few bottles of ale with new mates at the Potters. Luscious food, fabulous beer, and elegant ambience – and of course, the company of friends who would be on the road again the next day for the scheduled Blue Mountains tours.
Earlier we had fun together in the blue waters of the lovely Port Stephens, and from there we headed straight to this picturesque wine region to visit some excellent wineries. After the day’s sightseeing tours, it was a nice time for us to have bonding over dinner and beer.
A range of luscious local cuisine from the famous Brasserie, superb beer from the award-winning brewhouse, and excellent customer satisfaction. That’s what the Potters is—a great accent to a Hunter Valley tours experience. And it’s always fun to be able to chat with folks at the brewery, talking about beers and some history of the place.
