History

Yarrawood Estate has been a part of Yarra Valley’s winemaking history since Erich Schwaiger founded the business. His philosophy, based on a love of making great wine, was the foundation of the business. Over the years, Erich’s sons, Tim Schwaiger and Timothy Schwaiger, have continued this legacy and turned Yarrawood into an internationally acclaimed wine company.

The Schwaiger family have always been hands-on and sustainable in their approach to winemaking. With a deep respect for the environment and an understanding of the Yarra Valley’s climate, Yarrawood Estate practices highlight the region’s terroir and look after the vineyards for the long term. This approach to sustainable farming and cool climate wine production has resulted in multiple awards, including Silver Medals at the 2003 Rutherglen Wine Show and 2004 Wine Showcase Magazine, putting Yarrawood at the top of cool climate Yarra Valley wines.
