Snow Trips Victoria Itinerary

Who would have thought you could build a snowman in Australia?! And only two hours away from Melbourne! Not only can you play in the snow, but you can also take a scenic hike up to the summit of Lake Mountain, hire toboggans, and much more! Unleash your inner child with direct transfer and entry included to this beautiful Alpine resort. Please note that this year, there will be ticketed access to the Village toboggan run and Mini toboggan run.

Named after Surveyor-General George Lake, the tranquil Alpine resort does not have a lake to visit but rather a mountain! We drive you 120 km North East from Melbourne right up to the resort – no need for transfer buses or lift passes!

Surrounded by miles of cross-country ski tracks and toboggan fields, the resort is equipped with modern facilities. You will have ample time to enjoy the quaint, picture-perfect chalets overlooking the mountains. Facilities include a restaurant and day shelter, a cafe, ski equipment, a retail shop, a snow sports centre, and more.

Perfect for kids and big kids alike! You have three hours to spend as you wish. There are many activities, such as tobogganing, cross-country skiing, snow-shoe walks or even a snowball fight!

You can also choose to hike up to the summit of Lake Mountain, this time for breathtaking snowy views!

Snow hire equipment or clothing can be arranged on the day – View the Price List.

In the afternoon, you set off for a 700-meter walk to the spectacular and awe-inspiring Steavenson Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in Victoria.

The waterfall was named after John Steavenson, an Assistant Commissioner of Roads and Bridges who visited Marysville in 1862. The waters plummet 84 meters into the Steavenson River Valley. Today, the waterfall is the heart of the 190-hectare Steavenson Falls Scenic Reserve.

Steavenson Falls has become a popular tourist destination in Marysville since the 1860s. You will love it because of its distinct allure and amazing natural beauty. With 5 cascades and a total of 122 meters of descent, you’ll stand in awe of this natural wonder.

On our way back to Melbourne, we drive through the Yarra Valley to visit a top-notch chocolate factory.

Indulge your sweet tooth at Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery. Enjoy free samples of their handcrafted chocolate products and sweet treats. You can also shop and bring home some goodies.

Explore their lawns surrounded by the picturesque Yarra Valley vistas of vineyards, hills, and mountain ranges. Feast on the sweetness and beauty of Australia’s wine-producing valley.

  1. Before I come to Australia, I didn’t know that there was snow in winter in some places so for me it was surprising and I really enjoyed it! I made a snowman, had a walk in the snow… sounds like christmas
We had the chance also to go to a chocolate factory and to see waterfalls on the road 🙂

  2. We had an absolute ball on our trip from Melbourne Snow Tour to Lake Mountain!!

Our driver was superb, had fantastic local knowledge and gave a mini history session early on, and divulged informative snippets and funny anecdotes along the way.

It was a lovely surprise to have the chocolate factory, waterfall and Marysville stops along the way in the morning, and definitely a better way to organise the tour rather than just the chocolate factory on the way home, when we would have been too tired to appreciate the beautiful sights!

Apologies we couldn’t remember the tour guide’s name, but he significantly ‘value added’ to our trip!

Thoroughly recommend this day ski trip Melbourne via Wildlife Tours!

  3. Only 2.5 hours from Melbourne, and its worthed day snow tours Melbourne
Our guide Darren is a nice guy and very helpful.
He took us to Beechworth Bakery in Healesville for breakfast.
Then we went direct to Lake Mountain.
It hasn’t snowed yet, but they have man-made snow; it’s enough for me to take photos and make a snowman.
The surrounding was very breathtaking, walk distance in the nearby, you can see the white rustic silver forest.
Then we went to Steavenson waterfall & Yarra Valley Chocolaterie.
It was so beautiful, and I want to go back.
On the way back, Darren was very helpful; he dropped us near our destination to have dinner.

  4. This trip was the perfect introduction to snow for my kids. Ski tour Melbourne was well organized. Our guide, Tim, had heaps of local knowledge and also shared local music and some of his favorite music on the tour. It was great to have a bakery stop before hitting the snow. I got some nice pics at Stevenson falls. The chocolate factory tour on the way back to Melbourne was a hit with the whole family. You have to try hot chocolate!

  5. Just wanted to say thank you for creating moments to remember for me and my family. Simon, our tour guide was professional and informed. The Stevenson Waterfalls and Chocolaterie were also added value and a great experience. Thank you. Will use Wildlife Tours again and would recommend them to anyone.
